THE HISTORY OF CENTRAL ALABAMA ARTIST GUILD

CAAG is the combination of 3 art associations when the economy was at its worst. In 2015, Vestavia Art Asso., Hoover Art Asso. And Shelby County Art combined to form Central Alabama Artist Guild.

In 2016, Jinger Glasgow took President and Show Chair in order to put together a show for the membership. We had our first show as CAAG at the Vestavia Hills Gymnasium. Then we started looking for a better set up for our members. So, in 2017, we set up at the Hoover Met in the concourse. That turns out to be the worst ever 1st week in May: Cold and windy. So once again, in 2018 we looked for a place to show. With the Help of Linda Chastain from the Hoover Arts Alliance; we worked with the owners of Patton Creek Shopping Center to make a plan at Creekside Ave amongst some quaint empty stores. We set up tents in the street and had a good turnout for our first: Patton Creek Art Festival. In 2019, we continued to grow at Patton Creek every year. In 2020, we had the first and last art show of the year in March. That’s when the world shut down because of Covid 19. We were so blessed to have that show. In 2021, we waited until the virus was cleared and did our show in July; it was hot of course, but we were successful. In 2022, we had our show on the first Saturday in April and had lots of artists and attendees.
